Microscopy and Phytochemical Investigation of two Oxalis Species

Two species of genus Oxalis (Oxalidaceae) were investigated for preliminary phytochemical screening and microscopy. Different types of extracts were prepared with the help of soxhlet apparatus. Flavanoids, phytosterols, proteins and diterpenes were mainly detected. It was concluded that extracts of Oxalis corniculata and Oxalis latifolia contains important constituents which can be explored for pharmacological activities. In microscopical examination, it was found that mainly multicellular trichomes, simple covering trichomes, fibres, epidermal cells, anomocytic stomata were present.
