ROLE OF AQUA OF CAESALPINIA BONDUCELLA LEAF IN RATS ON PAIN AND INFLAMMATION

Caesalpinia bonducella (CBC; Karanjwa) is an important medicinal plant extensively distributed throughout the coastal region of India, Burma, Sri Lanka, and in other tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity of Caesalpinia bonducella in laboratory animals. Analgesic activity was carried out by acetic acid-induced abdominal writhing and hot plate test in rats at the dose level of 7, 10.50 and 14 mg/kg. Anti-inflammatory activity was carried out by carrageenan test in rats. The observed results suggested the Caesalpinia bonducella showed significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity in rats.
