  DERIVATIVE AND DIFFERENCE SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC TECHNIQUES FOR THE DETERMINATION OF BENDAMUSTINE HYDROC
   

Bendamustine hydrochloride is an alkylating agent which is an active nitrogen mustard fragment including a benzimidazole ring and a residue of butanoic acid. Two simple and sensitive first derivative spectrophotometric techniques and one difference spectroscopic technique have been developed for the determination of bendamustine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulations. Bendamustine hydrochloride shows linearity over the concentration range 5-30 μg/mL, 5-60 μg/mL and 5-50 μg/mL in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8), acetate buffer (pH 4.0) and in difference spectroscopy technique with regression equations y = 0.0025x + 0.0024 (rē = 0.998), y = 0.001x - 0.000 (rē = 0.998) and y =0.078x - 0.0012 (rē = 0.999) respectively. The methods were validated as per ICH guidelines and can be applied for the determination of bendamustine hydrochloride in pharmaceutical formulations.
