  A Review on Ethanomedical, Phytochemical and Pharmacological Profile of Musa paradisiacal
   

Plants are a source of many biologically active products and now days they are of great interest to the pharmaceutical industry. Many of these active components are extractable and used as chemical feed stocks or as raw material for various scientific investigations and industrial utilization. Medicinal plants contain natural chemicals, which are acceptable to human and animal systems. All these chemicals cannot be synthesized in laboratories. Musa paradisiaca, an important source of food in the world, traditionally used to treat asthma, diabetes, anthelmintic, hypertension, insomnia, snake bite. The whole plant as well as specific parts (leaves, ripe and unripe fruits, stems) of plant extract and its active constituents have been used for the treatment of large number of human ailments. Tannins, flavanoids, phenolic, terpenoid, proteins and gallic acid are found in the banana plant. Several epidemiological and experimental studies have demonstrated the multiple biological activities of Musa paradisiaca. This review summarizes the most interesting studies on the various ethanomedical, phytochemical and pharmacological works done on the Musa paradisiaca.
