  Ayurvedic Pharmacological Principles of Deepana (Stomachic) and Pachana (Digestant) Drugs

There are various attributes for the maintenance of health as per Ayurveda. Agni is of prime importance entity for healthy status of an individual. There are many causative factors gives rise to imbalanced or improper state of Agni. All such situations would lead to expression of abnormal condition of health called Roga (diseases). Therefore Ayurvedic therapeutics always focuses on restoring normal status of Agni. There are numerous Ayurvedic drugs explained to be useful in such a diseased condition; termed as Deepaniya (Stomachic) and Pachaniya (Digestants). Both of these terms are used to explain pharmaco-therapeutic activities of the drugs. Their critical review along with groups of drugs possessing same activity has been done to explain underlined scientific principles. The outcomes of this review distinguish these two terms and their therapeutic applications.
